Our Story

We’re a Church of England parish church in the West End of Fareham that is part of the Portsmouth diocese.  We’re a member of the Evangelical Alliance and our patron is the Church Pastoral Aid Society.  We’ve been serving our local community for over fifty years. In the 1950’s we met in the church hall and the present church building was built in 1963 although the story of our church really began over 200 years ago in Portsmouth.

Since the parish was established in the early 1960’s, the church has been very blessed with men and women who have led the worship in the church.

Did you know that the original church in Portsmouth was actually a circus building and equestrian centre which was destroyed in an air raid on the 12th of August 1940? Find out more about our interesting history by viewing our pdf brochure.

Ministry and St John’s

Since 1956, when the Hall Church was dedicated, we have been blessed by the ordained and lay ministers who have served St John’s and helped it to grow into the vibrant community that it is today.  We thank God for the vision and leadership that the men and women below have given us and pray that that will continue into the future.
