Christian Aid

Our belief that poverty can be ended is based on our understanding of scripture and the work of a creative, loving God. ‘Let us love, not in word or speech but in truth and action’ (1 John 3:18).

Christian Aid works with local partners and communities to fight injustice, respond to humanitarian emergencies, campaign for change, and help people claim the services and rights they are entitled to. They aim to end poverty and injustice worldwide. This involves working in partnership with local organisations, as well as with governments and the private sector.

Their work includes helping people to:

  • claim their rights and access services such as healthcare and education
  • ensure they are not discriminated against for any reason
  • become more resilient to shocks and disasters such as drought, climate change and hurricanes
make the most of opportunities, such as being able to sell their produce for a fair price.

Their belief that poverty can be ended, is based on their understanding of scripture and the work of a creative, loving God.

Christian Aid’s values are rooted in Christian belief and are based on their understanding of relational theology, which asserts that human beings are called to have a special relationship with God and in turn to have a particular relationship with one another.
