About St Johns services

09:00am – Communion with Hymns

The 9:00am service offers a more traditional style of worship with hymns and Holy Communion. The service aims to finish by 9:50am so that those who have attended the 9:00am service can enjoy a coffee and chat with those who arrive to attend the 10:30am service.

Whatever your preferred style of worship, why not join us for refreshments between the two services?

The 10:30am Services

Starting with coffee and chat at 9.50am, our 10:30am gathering provides a more contemporary style of service.

Together in Worship

This is an all age worship service with the children involved at the beginning and end of the service. The children will have their own “Children’s Church” in the hall in the middle part of this service.

The service can include a time of prayer, some liturgy, more modern songs, readings, a talk or presentation and a chance for members of the congregation to contribute with their own experiences of how God has helped them.

Family Time

This is an all-age service which makes use of our different learning preferences to explore God’s word and to worship him.  It is a deliberately more relaxed form of worship which is both child and adult friendly.  Bean bags, coffee/tea/juice and cakes (available throughout the service) and the four different activities of: actors, artists, ponderers and prayers all being essential components.  There is a maximum of three songs and the first is always a children’s song which may be played by the worship group or via CD track over the sound system.  The aim is to keep the service to a max of one hour

Together in Worship with Communion

This service follows the same pattern as the Together in Worship service above but also includes the peace and communion.

Messy Church.

This is service for everyone in a fun atmosphere to learn about faith. We have a monthly theme and our various activities, whether crafts, quizzes, games all are linked to the theme. Children to be accompanied by a parent or carer.

About the 10:30 Youth Services

Children’s Church

Before Children’s Church in the hall, the children are welcomed in the main church and after an informal chat about their week the congregation pray for them and a song applicable for the children is then sung before they depart for their own activities. Towards the end of the service the children return to the church with their leaders for a time of show and tell.

What other provisions are there?

People of any age are welcome in all of our services. We are a family and a family consists of all ages. Please never be concerned about children making noise, it is the sound of their worship. If you have small people who might get restless just sitting in the service so we have a ‘Tot Spot’ (inside the main church and by the sofas). There are toys, books and colouring provisions, this is always here.

Click to find out more about Songpro! We have an audio Loop for the hard of hearing and use SongPro Software to display the songs and liturgy for our services.  We also have printed copies of the service available for those who need them.
