The Boys Brigade meet on Friday evenings in term time from 6.15pm to 7.45pm
Anchor Boys age 5-8 years (School Years 1-3)
Junior Section age 8-11 years (School Years 4-6)
Company Section age 12-14 years (School Years 7-9)
Seniors age 15-18 years (School Years 10 – College)
Each section has a structured activity time during the evening, which is divided into five subject areas.
If there are a number of Company & Senior Section aged boys interested in attending, then we will extend the times for these sections to 9.00pm and they can start their evening at 7.30pm.
6.00pm to 6.15pm Boys turn up for evening and pay in subs and buy tuck ready for collection at end of evening.
Organise themselves into a game that boys can join as they arrive.
6.15pm to 6.30pm Raise the union flag, devotions (a short bible-based talk and prayer) and inspection of uniform. Extra marks awarded for J Club/Sunday School attendance.
6.30pm to 6.50pm Achievements – Structured activity time to gain certificates and badges. One activity is started out of the five sections available as below each evening, although sometimes it can take two weeks to complete a subject.
Body – Physical Activities, e.g. team games
Mind - Thinking Skills, e.g. board games, word searches
Spiritual - Bible Based Activities, e.g. drawing pictures of the creation story
Community - Road Safety, Home Safety, People who help us
Creativity - Craft Activities, e.g. Mother’s Day Cards, Easter nests
6.50pm to 7.15pm Games Time
7.15pm to 7.20pm Drink and biscuit break
7.20pm to 7.40pm Games time while boys are called up to add their sticker to their awards sheet for the evening’s achievement.
7.40pm to 7.45pm Closing parade, notices, lowering of the union flag and Dismiss.
7.45pm Collect tuck and go home.
At the moment we have 9 regular Anchor Boys (five and six year olds), with 4 who do not attend every week.
We would like to have some eight to eleven year olds join us, who will have their own achievement scheme, separate from the Anchor Boys.
The object of the Boy’s Brigade is “The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among boys”.
