At St John’s we have teams who visit local Primary schools. We take assembly every two weeks telling Bible stories in simple language using ‘The Lion Storyteller Bible’ by Bob Hartman. We always try to make the story come alive visually by using props and acting the parts of the characters; and we like to get the children to help us. Then we offer the staff and children a moment to think about the story and finish by saying a prayer. The children are very keen to help us out with the story-telling and we all have a lot of fun.
The Open the Book Team recently visited the Rainbow Centre (http://www.rainbowcentre.org/) on their Open Day. As it was the first time that we had told a Bible story there, we chose “In the Beginning” which tells the Creation story. We had many props to help us tell the story. The children who listened to the story helped us by holding up the pictures.
