Messy Church

Messy Church takes place in the church hall at 10:30am on the first Sunday of each month.

What is Messy Church? Messy Church is a place for everyone (young or old, families or not, with children or not)  to meet together in a fun atmosphere and learn about faith through crafts, games, food and a short talk.

Messy Church is perfect for you if you would like to no more about the Christian faith but you’re not sure you’re ready for ‘church’ at the moment.

Messy Church is perfect for you if you are worried about having to be quiet in church (you don’t!)

Messy Church is perfect for you if you feel that you want to spend some time  on a Sunday morning in a welcoming community.

Messy Church is perfect for you if your life is messy. You’re doing your best but life is just a bit complicated and you need some time away from it all, to try new things, to be welcomed as you are, to be reminded that God loves you, and accepts you whenever and whatever you have done. Not one person at St John’s would claim to have an ‘unmessy’ life and we would be happy to give you support and a welcome if you ever want to come and join us. You don’t need to ‘sign up’, it’s free with no strings attached.

And another thing – not all the activities are actually messy! I know this puts a lot of people off. There are usually activities from gloopy biscuit decorating, to painting, to sticking, to playing with water, to making obstacle races to just playing with toys. You can avoid the mucky stuff!

*Please note that you need to remain in the hall with your child / children rather than dropping them off and collecting them at the end.
